OpenAI, Jony Ive’s io Products, and audio technology startup iyO appear close to resolving their trademark dispute after notifying the U.S. District Court that they have reached a settlement in principle. Judge Trina L. Thompson granted a seven-day stay to allow the parties to finalize the agreement, with a deadline of August 6 to either file a dismissal or submit a joint status report. The stay postpones scheduled hearings, including proceedings related to OpenAI’s efforts to challenge the preliminary injunction concerning the "io" branding. If the settlement is completed, the pending motions will become moot and the litigation will conclude, bringing a high-profile intellectual property dispute in the AI hardware sector to an end.
